Penyanyi dance pop sensasional kelahiran Singapura, Sun Ho, menjadi salah satu artis dari Benua Asia yang hadir dalam acara bergengsi Grammy Awards yang ke-51 di Staples Center, Los Angeles, Amerika Serikat (AS), pada 8 Februari 2009 lalu.
Kehadiran Sun Ho pada malam penghargaan tersebut bagian dari persiapannya untuk debut album Inggris yang bakal diluncurkan pada musim panas di Amerika Serikat.
Event di Los Angeles itu sekaligus menjadi arena perubahan penampilannya selama ini. Sun Ho tampil menjadi "Asian blonde bombshell". Rambut panjang yang menjadi trademark Sun selama empat tahun belakangan ini telah berubah menjadi potongan pendek rock yang menawan.
"Penata rambut saya yang baru adalah Frankie Payne," ujar Sun Ho. Payne adalah salah satu penata rambut yang paling hot di Hollywood, di mana Payne juga memiliki banyak klien tenar seperti Brad Pitt, Fergie, Justin Timberlake, Katie Holmes, dan the Pussycat Dolls.
Penampilan baru itu membuat Sun Ho lebih percaya diri berjalan di red carpet pada malam Grammy Awards, dengan publicist-nya, Sonia Muckle, dan manajer Johnny Wright dan Justin Herz. Dia diinterviu oleh ET News, MTV, dan Acess Hollywood. "Pada dasarnya mereka sangat menantikan debut saya yang akan datang di Amerika Serikat tahun 2009 ini," ujar Sun Ho.
"Saya menantikan untuk berdiri di atas red carpet dan menjadi bagian dari acara ini tahun depan-bukan untuk menjadi tamu, melainkan menjadi musikus yang menjadi bagian dari industri musik di sini," kata Sun Ho optimistis.
Sekarang setelah Grammy, Sun berlatih setiap hari dengan instruktur dan koreografernya. Dia juga bekerja keras di studio rekaman dengan produsernya, Danja.
"Kami sedang mempersiapkan beberapa lagu yang luar biasa dengan irama yang sangat unik. Saya berharap itu akan langsung memikat para pendengar di Amerika Serikat dan pecinta musik di mancanegara," ujar Sun.
Sun direncanakan meluncurkan album berbahasa Inggris terbarunya juga di Indonesia pada pertengahan tahun 2009. Sebab, Sun merasa sangat dekat dengan penggemar musik di Indonesia dan merasa sangat bangga jika pecinta musik Indonesia dapat menikmati lagu-lagu terbarunya. (Dwi Putro AA)
Home is where the heart is. But to realize the dream of releasing her debut English album, international pop icon Sun Ho had to spend the last one and a half years in America, leaving her family and loved ones in Singapore.
On 17 December, Sun HO finally returned home to enjoy Christmas in the sunny island state!
As early as 3 a.m., anticipation floated in the air as hundred of fans gradually streamed into the arrival hall of Changi Airport Terminal 3. Group of fans also gathered at the premises to design banners and placards to welcome their beloved star.
Her fans even improvised and turned the song <<你的肩膀> into a special homecoming tune.
At 5.26 a.m., SQ37 landed. Sun Fan CLub promptly moved into position. Within minutes, Sun was spotted carrying her son, Dayan. Cheers arose and placards of all colors were waved enthusiastically. Presenting to her the modified lyrics, the overjoyed fans sang heir hearts out.
